Waste & Recycling

We appreciate you are visiting Grand Get-Togethers for a luxury holiday and often a celebration therefore we completely understand that separating your rubbish may not be at the top of your 'to do' list.

We have tried to make recycling as easy as possible. North Yorkshire County Council provide boxes to separate your plastic, glass, cans, paper and cardboard. This may not be enough space for such a large party therefore we have additional recycling bins provided by YorWaste at The Yard and Corner Farm for dry mixed recycling and glass.

Food waste accounts for a huge amount of the waste produced by each property and we hate to see this in the landfill! Please consider how you can help out. There is a food bin for all of your used and opened food waste, this is removed and put into a HotBin Composter at Westfield Granary which then provides fantastic compost for our gardens! Or, if you have any open bread or peelings you may prefer to feed this to the chickens at Westfield Granary or leave it separate for us to take them a tasty treat.

Food Bank

Don't throw perfectly good, unopened unused food into landfill! Food within its use by date will be donated to The Rainbow Centre in Scarborough.

The Rainbow Centre are a social action project and registered charity set up to address issues faced by homeless people. The project aims to help a range of community members – including the homeless, families in crisis and individuals facing challenges due to a history of substance misuse, poverty or returning from prison.

Old Bedding & Lost Property

As we are a luxury accommodation provider it is essential that we are always addressing any problems with our facilities including tired and dated bedding, household items and furniture.

In addition to our Food Bank we also support The Rainbow Centre by providing them with old bedding, household items and lost property including clothes.

Each year The Rainbow Centre makes around 12,500 critical interventions, offering assistance to vulnerable people during their difficult circumstances and beyond. Our support helps to provide assistance such as emergency food parcels, clean clothing, bedding and other household essentials.

Party Decorations & Supplies

Reduce, reuse and recycle YOUR party decorations.

We love a good party as much as the rest of you, however have you thought about how much waste you are producing? Every week we gather up huge amounts of both used and unused party paraphernalia from balloons and confetti to inflatables and plastic crockery.

We encourage guests to leave both used and unused decorations and party supplies for future visitors to enjoy whilst contributing to reducing our carbon footprint. We accept anything from plastic cutlery, crockery and banners to inflatables, balloons and helium canisters.

Our stock is regularly changing as we are a popular celebration destination, with our properties being a firm favourite for hen parties and special birthdays. All that we ask is that you contact Molly to discuss availability of decorations and products before purchasing new ones.

If we don't have exactly what you are looking for why not visit Little Cherry who sell a wide range of eco-friendly party supplies.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Next time you are purchasing single use plastic decorations please think about your alternatives.

Renewable Energy

Biomass Burners fed with wood pellets are used to heat all three properties ensuring there is a plentiful supply of hot water for showers, washing up and to fill the very important hot tubs!

In addition to the Biomass Burners the roof of the grain store at Westfield is full of solar panels contributing to reducing our carbon footprint.

We are currently investigating electric car charging ports and other ways in which we can be more responsible and sustainable.

Toiletries & Cleaning Products

All of our toiletries and cleaning products are purchased in bulk and then decanted into reusable containers which helps to reduce our use of single use plastics. We use Out of Eden who provide on-trend and environmentally friendly hospitality products.

Charity Work

We are regular fundraisers for Marie Curie who provide care and support to those living with terminal illness; from clear, useful information to expert nursing in your own home.

We have hosted events including cocktail masterclasses and Christmas fairs in the properties, large barn dances, car boot sales and Open Gardens and Museum. There are boxes for loose change and donations made for viewing the farm museum in all of our properties, every little counts.

Further to our constant support of Marie Curie and their incredible work we also donate a couple of short midweek breaks a year to local charities which have included the Stroke Rehabilitation Ward at Scarborough Hospital, The Encephalitis Society and Ryedale Special Families.
