The Story

We’re a Yorkshire family business with one big mission – to help you enjoy the fabulous group getaway you deserve, whether it’s a special birthday, a wonderful reunion, relaxing time with friends or a much-needed family holiday. All our properties, as we say in Yorkshire, are ‘reet grand’; they are large, luxurious and lovingly finished!

Four generations of our family have farmed this land and we are all proud to open up our land and buildings for you. We are still a large working farm and have gone from strength to strength over the years. We currently have 1,800 acres, which is largely arable growing wheat, barley, oilseed rape, fodder beet, carrots, potatoes, miscanthus (biofuel) and we also winter 2,500 lambs.

All three of our properties are either within or a short walk to the farmland, so as guests you can enjoy the unique experience of easily accessible outdoor freedom, wonderful wildlife and glorious scenery.

Our properties are thoughtfully designed with large groups in mind. While we are friendly, approachable and always available if you need to get in touch, we don’t like to intrude – we simply want you to feel at home during your stay.

We do like to take a personal approach with our bookings and can leave a suitable seasonal welcome pack and decorations for festive periods if appropriate. Please get in touch to discuss if you have any special requests.

A little bit of history

Grand get-togethers has evolved from two small holiday properties within a former granary at our Westfield Farm family home. In 2006, the properties were opened up to cater for the growing need for open plan spaces and holidays in the UK - this is now Westfield Granary.

In 2012, we set about renovating two former semi-detached village farm houses to reinstate the Grade II listed former farmhouse as a large luxury detached property - Corner Farm. In 2014, we started renovating the adjacent farm buildings, wagon sheds and an old fold yard into our newest most spectacular property – The Yard.

We have installed a biomass burner at each property to ensure that the houses are always warm with plenty of hot water - an essential for a luxurious holiday.

A little bit about the area

Corner Farm and The Yard are both located in the village of Sherburn while Westfield Granary is located half a mile out of the village adjoining our house and farmland.

The village of Sherburn lies between the market town of Malton and the seaside resort of Scarborough in the Vale of Pickering.

Sherburn has all the village essentials - a pub, post office, two village shops and a fish and chip shop. There is also a farm bakery and teashop half a mile out of the village.

The Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail long-distance footpath runs just south of Sherburn, through our farmland.

Malton is the perfect town for foodies with a monthly food market and the annual Food Lovers Festival.

Scarborough boasts two beautiful beaches and the ruins of a 12th-century castle with glorious views. The seaside resort also offers first class attractions such as the Sea Life Maritime Sanctuary, the Stephen Joseph Theatre - home of playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn - and the refurbished Rotunda Museum.

Music lovers can visit the Spa Complex, home of the only remaining seaside orchestra, or Peasholm Park, staging open air concerts and a variety of family entertainments.

The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is close by with its famous steam railway, which offers a relaxing ride through the stunning moorland and forest.

Historic stately home Castle Howard, set in an elevated position against the Howardian Hills, is just 15 miles away and was the location for the filming of Brideshead Revisited.

Dalby Forest, with GoApe and great mountain biking tracks, Flamingo Land theme park and Eden Camp are all easily accessible for great family days out. Or you can enjoy a trip to the historic walled city of York.
